Musings on Love

by Charles Churchill

What is love? It’s the question I’m asking you and myself. Is love a feeling? A committment? Is love an action? What scripture defines love, both explicitly and implicitly? My thoughts are that love is expressed through the proper fulfillment of responsibility. But I want to know what you think.

Great to see you here from Jesuscreed – really enjoy your comments over there. So as to love…ya know…I sorta like the Greek thinking…Eros, Phileo and Agapeo? Flesh, Brother, and Transcendant forms? What’cha think? Hey if you can drop on bye

    Hey DrD,
Thanks for stopping by. I definitely think those words are useful when describing types/applications of love, but part of what love is also involves time/place/and recipient and those words don’t necessarily address that aspect. What I mean by that is writing a thank you note might be a loving act, but if my son is bleeding to death while I do it who am I loving? (I would say that I’m loving no one, and I’m hating my son) Anyway, I’m getting a little ahead of myself, more on this later.

    Anyone else have thoughts?
